Am 5.5. zeigen wir einen Film, der von dem Militärputsch 1980 am 12. September in der Türkei handelt. Viele Linke wurden verfolgt, eingesperrt, verschwanden und wurden ermordet, gefoltert und hingerichtet. Er porträtiert deren Mütter und ihren Widerstand.
Es wird ein Mitglied der Dokumentationsgruppe anwesend sein und den geschichtlichen und politischen Kontext erklären. Danach werden wir den Film gemeinsam diskutieren.

On the 5.5. we are screening a movie, which deals with the military coup in Turkey 1980, on the 12th September. Lots of leftists were prosecuted, jailed, disappeared und were murdered, tortured and executed. It portrays their mothers and their resistance.
There will be member of the documentation group present, who will explain the historical and political context. Afterwards we will have a discussion together.

DER SCHMERZ DER UNVERARBEITETEN TRAUER VERGEHT NIE. Der Dokumentationsfilm ist ein Versuch, die 12.-September-Mütter wieder in das Bewusstsein der Gesellschaft zu rufen. Ist die Erinnerung gesellschaftsabhängig, kann die Vergegenwärtigung nicht in einer sozialen Lücke realisiert werden. Wir als Mitglieder einer Gesellschaftsgruppe erinnern uns. Seit Jahren sitzen in der Tiefe des sozialen Gedächtnisses hunderte von erlebten Morden, Foltern, Hinrichtungen und tiefer Schmerz. Vielleicht war es ihnen nicht bewusst… Vielleicht kannten sie bis dahin weder Polizeiwache, noch Gericht… Trotz aller Widrigkeiten haben sie der Junta die Stirn geboten, um ihren Kindern beizustehen… Sie haben gelernt zu kämpfen, Widerstand zu leisten und sich zu organisieren… Es ist eine wahre Geschichte, dass der Militärputsch am 12. September den Widerstand der Mütter hervorgebracht hat.
No pain can be healed without mourning over it. What we aim to achieve with the documentary ‘Resisting the Junta: Mothers of September 12th’ is actually to refresh the public’s memory and make it visible. If the memory is collective, then remembering does not take place in vacuum. We remember as members of a social group. Deep down of this social memory, there are lots of unidentified murders, tortures, executions and deep sorrows. This is the true story of the mothers who were brought together by the struggle against the military junta of September 12th in Turkey. Previously, they may not know much about what was going on in the country, in courts, police and gendarmerie stations; yet, they stood by their children against the junta no matter what happened, and they learned how to fight, how to resist and how to get organized.
